Porcelain Laminates

Porcelain laminate veneers are an application where a leaf-shaped porcelain material is bonded to the visible surfaces of the teeth. This procedure is the healthiest and most preferred treatment method because it is done without the need to cut the teeth. The visible surfaces of the teeth are slightly trimmed (only reducing the front surfaces by about 0.3 to 0.7 mm), measurements are taken, and porcelain veneers prepared according to these measurements are bonded to these surfaces.

Porcelain veneers are very thin and do not contain any metal. Additionally, they transmit light very well, making it impossible to distinguish them from natural teeth. The application provides successful results in cases of broken teeth, closing gaps between teeth, and correcting misalignment. Furthermore, the durability of porcelain veneers, their resistance to discoloration and wear are among the biggest advantages of the procedure. The application is completed in about a week on average.

In which cases are porcelain laminates applied?

Porcelain laminates can be applied as a successful treatment method in the following cases:

  1. Teeth with significantly discolored shades where teeth whitening procedures do not yield successful results.
  2. Teeth with poor structural form and shape.
  3. In cases of uniting teeth with spacing in the mouth.
  4. For the correction of broken or worn-out teeth.
  5. For the restoration of old dental fillings that have changed in color and structure.

Is there a risk of porcelain laminate teeth falling off?

Porcelain laminate teeth generally do not have a risk of falling off. However, it is important to take necessary precautions and attend regular check-ups with the dentist.

The adhesive used to attach porcelain laminates to teeth has a specific usage period. This period is determined by dentists, and the procedure is renewed before this period expires. Aside from this situation, porcelain laminate teeth do not fall off on their own.

Issues may arise in cases of extreme pressure applied to the teeth and if necessary maintenance is neglected for an extended period. In such cases, porcelain laminate teeth can break and come off. However, they do not fall off on their own without any reason.
